Port Charlotte, Florida - As part of the Toledo Blade Widening Improvements Project, road construction crews will be placing a stormwater pipe across Toledo Blade Boulevard just south of the Hillsborough Boulevard intersection on Monday, October 6, 2008, between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Temporary traffic lanes will be provided around the construction area. Flaggers will be present to direct traffic. Delays should be expected and motorists are urged to use caution throughout the construction zone. Alternate routes should be considered.

Punta Gorda, FL - The following intermittent lane closures will be made as part of the Carmalita Street Improvements Project:
- The east-bound lane of Carmalita Street (between Cooper Street and Narranja Street) will be closed intermittently between 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Monday, October 6, 2008 and Thursday October 9, 2008.
- The north-bound lane of Cooper Street (between Carmalita Street and Allen Street) will be closed intermittently between 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Monday, October 6, 2008 and Thursday October 9, 2008.
- The south-bound lane of Cooper Street (between Carmalita Street and Allen Street) will be closed intermittently between 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Monday, October 6, 2008 and Thursday October 9, 2008.
This work is necessary to widen the Cooper Street and Carmalita Street Intersection to allow for left-turn lanes in all four directions. Traffic will be directed around the construction areas. Delays should be expected and motorists are encouraged to exhibit caution and use alternate routes. Motorist are reminded that the speed limit in the construction zone along Carmalita Street is 15 miles per hour. The lowered speed limit has been established for the protection of the road workers as well as the motoring public.

Punta Gorda, Florida - The south or Carmalita Street entrance to the South County Regional Park will be closed from Thursday, September 25, 2008, through Thursday, October 9, 2008, for construction on the Carmalita Street Improvements project.
March 15, 2008 - Until Further Notice
Manchester Lock Light to be Turned Off: Port Charlotte, Florida - The light at the lock in the Manchester Waterway will be turned off beginning Saturday, March 15, 2008, until further notice as construction begins on the removal of the lock. Boaters are urged to use caution in that area when navigating the waterway after dark.
