Charlotte-Glades Library System
Friends of the Library
Everyone knows what it is like to be on a budget. Your public libraries are no different. The public library funding comes from Charlotte County's general revenue funds and from Florida State Aid to Libraries grants. This funding does not quite cover the needs of the library. Every library has a wish-list consisting of books, magazines, computers, and newspapers.
This is where the Friends of the Library steps in and plays a pivotal role in raising funds for the libraries. Each of the four public libraries in Charlotte County has such a group, with slightly different names. Without the Friends of the Library, the libraries would not have the abundance of materials that exist today. Materials like, public use computers, children's programs, new furniture, volunteers, and plenty of new books.
The library needs you! If you would like to be a part of a dynamic library support group become a Friend.
