Charlotte County Utilities seeks residential customers to participate in
fiscal year 2009-2010 Toilet Rebate Program

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (October 9, 2009) – As part of Charlotte County Utilities (CCU) ongoing water conservation efforts, CCU and the Southwest Florida Water Management District's Peace River Basin Board have renewed their commitment to cooperatively fund the residential Toilet Rebate Program for fiscal year 2009-2010. The program encourages the replacement of older, high-consumption toilets with new, low-consumption models that use 1.6 gallons per flush or less.

The goal is to replace 750 residential toilets, so please don’t wait (call now) to take advantage of this great opportunity to save money and conserve water. Once the 750 toilets have been replaced, the program will end.

Eligible participants must be current residential water customers of Charlotte County Utilities. Existing toilets must have been manufactured and installed prior to 1994 and use 3.5 gallons of water or more per flush. They must be replaced with new models using 1.6 gallons or less per flush. Eligible participants must request a rebate application and receive a reservation prior to toilet replacement and must follow all program guidelines, including a post-installation inspection of both the old and new toilets.

Rebates are for up to $100.00 per toilet – up to two toilets per residential unit. Eligible rebate items are the tank, the bowl, and associate fixtures. Installation charges and toilet seats are not eligible rebate items.

For more information, including detailed program guidelines and application, please contact the Toilet Rebate Program office toll-free at 1-888-843-9832.
