Commercial Change of Occupancy

Notes:	This permit is required for any business moving into a new location. A Local Business Tax Receipt will be required to pass your inspections. Please indicate the date that you would like your inspections. If the business is for a restaurant, you must have Health Department approval prior to the final inspections. A fee is required for the 3 inspections. Re-inspection fees must be paid before a re-inspection is dispatched or the Certificate of Occupancy is issued. The building should be open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and, if any type of materials/belongings, etc. are in the unit, then someone must be present at the time of the inspections.

Notes:	A construction trailer permit is not required if an application is currently in process for the job site at which the trailer will be installed. If the trailer is required prior to the construction application, a permit should be issued for the trailer installation. The trailer must be DCA approved and submit specifications. Contractor must state that the trailer is for construction purposes only, not sales.

Notes:	This permit will have to go through a Zoning and Plans review. Residential Decks: In the absence of signed and sealed drawings, the Building Official will allow the use of the American Wood Council Prescriptive Residential Deck Construction Guide, which is based on the 2006 International Residential Code. The use of the manual will be limited to decks 4 feet in height (walking surface of the deck) and 130 mile per hour exposure B regions. Notes:	If Residential demolition, only Owner/Builder form required. If Commercial demolition, the Owner/Builder and Owner/Builder for Asbestos Removal forms are both required. Notice of Asbestos Renovation or Demolition (DEP Form 62-257-900(1)) to the State is required for commercial projects. A contractor can only demolish what he is licensed to build. A contractor must present a letter from the owner approving the demolition. Exterior Demolition permits are issued immediately. A Building Plans review is required for all interior commercial demolitions. Final Inspections are done after site clean up.

Doors and Windows

Notes:	On the Application, the number of doors and windows must be listed in the description. If the window openings are currently shuttered, shutters must remain, be re-installed or glass must be impact resistant. If the window replacement is in a bedroom without an outside egress, the window replacement must be an egress window. Window assembly must be appropriate with the wind exposure. Garage Doors may be required to have flow through vents.

Drywall Replacement
Required Forms, Documents, and Fee Schedule:	Application Owner/Builder Affidavit - if owner Notice of Commencement - if job value is $2,500 or more Subcontractor Worksheet Floor Plans indicating what rooms are being replaced - 2 sets
Notes:	Contractor/Owner removes all drywall and insulation and assesses extent of damage. Contractor/Owner applies for a “Substandard Drywall” permit. Application for permit shall have a floor plan of the building detailing the extent of repair work needed to include (building, mechanical, electrical, plumbing etc). Permit will be issued with a quick review at a fee of $200. Contractor/Owner should make the required repairs using the appropriate subcontractors as needed and prior to replacing the drywall, call for all rough inspections. Upon completion of rough inspections, Contractor/Owner may replace insulation. Contractor/Owner will then call for a wall insulation inspection. Upon approval of the insulation inspection, they should then replace the drywall. Complete repairs and call for all final inspections. Upon approval of final inspections, a Certificate of Completion will be issued for the property stating that the repairs were made appropriately ANY ADDITIONAL WORK PERFORMED IN CONJUNCTION WITH THIS PERMIT MAY REQUIRE FURTHER PLANS REVIEW AND/OR PLANS CHANGES AND INSPECTIONS.
