Zemel Road Landfill
Background and History
Charlotte County, Florida has operated the Zemel Road Facility since July 1975.
Our Location
Zemel Road Landfill is located 12 miles south of the City of Punta Gorda off of U.S. 41(Tamiami Trail). Turn right onto Zemel Road.
The disposal area encompasses 108 acres. It is encircled with a bentonite slurry wall. This wall is below ground and serves as a liner, providing enhanced environmental ground water protection. The Zemel Road Facility has disposal capacity within our 108 acres that is projected to last to the year 2026. Residents can extend the life of this facility by increasing their recycling participation.
Hours of Operation are Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Customers that hand-unload need to enter the Landfill a half hour before closing time.
