Press Conference to Announce/Observe the
Demolition of the Edgewater “Beirut” Building
CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (Oct. 29, 2009) – Charlotte County Commissioners and Officials will hold a press conference Friday, October 30 to announce the recent court order granting Edgewater 2000, LLC / Bayshore Ventures, LTD’s voluntary dismissal of the appeal filed on August 13, 2009; and to observe the demolition of the building. The press conference will be held Friday, October 30 at 11:30 a.m., 1460 S McCall Road in Englewood Fla.
On October 26, 2009, the Second District Court of Appeal issued an order granting the Notice of Voluntary Dismissal filed by Bayshore Ventures, LTD. The Order grants the dismissal of an appeal filed by Bayshore Ventures, LTD in response to the July 10 Order Denying the Petition for Writ of Certiorari originally filed by Edgewater 2000, LLC and later maintained by Bayshore Ventures, LTD as successor in interest to Edgewater 2000, LLC. That Order denied the appeal filed originally by Edgewater 2000, LLC regarding the Notice of Unsafe Building pertaining to the structure located at 1460 Maryknoll Road in Englewood. Local residents referred to this project as the “Beirut Building.”
This week’s Court Order brings to a final end, a long process begun in 1986 with a building permit, a Notice of Unsafe Building issued in 2007, and the subsequent two and a half years of litigation.
