Design Charrette for Weston’s Resort on Manasota Key
CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (Oct. 19, 2009) – The Charlotte County Growth Management Department will be conducting a design charrette for Weston’s Resort on Manasota Key on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009. A charrette is a collaborative effort by a diverse group of people with a goal of generating a solution or solutions to a design challenge. Many questions have arisen about the re-use/re-development of Weston’s property over the last several years. The Growth Management Department has assembled a team of planners who will conduct activities designed to generate group-devised solutions for redevelopment of the property.
A kick-off open house is planned for Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009 at 945 Gulf Blvd. between 6 and 7:30 p.m. Details about the charrette activities will be provided at the open house.
Session #1 runs from 10 am to noon on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009 at 920 Gulf Blvd. This session is primarily for island residents. Session #2 runs from 2-4 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009 at 920 Gulf Blvd. This session is primarily for builders, architects, engineers, other practitioners and elected officials.
A “results open house”, scheduled from 7-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009 at 945 Gulf Blvd., will wrap up the charrette activities. Ideas generated throughout the day will be on display for comment and questions.
