CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (Sept. 24, 2009) – The Charlotte County Charter Review Commission will meet at 4 p.m., on Oct. 15 2009, in Room B-106 of the Charlotte County Administration Center, 18500 Murdock Circle, Port Charlotte, Florida. Discussions include, but are not limited to, the selection of a secretarial support staff and legal counsel, and the division of its 15-members to form sub-committees. The public is invited to attend.
Charlotte County is a Home Rule Charter Government. The Charter provides guidelines for how county government is organized and defines the roles of commissioners and staff. Every six years a Charter Review Commission shall be established to review the home rule charter and propose any amendments or revisions which may be advisable for placement on the general election ballot. The Charter Review Commission consists of 15 members and 3 alternates, all appointed by the Board of County Commissioners.
