National Community Planning Month in October


CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (Sept. 14, 2009) – The Charlotte County Growth Management Department is providing interactive workshops for all ages at Charlotte County libraries throughout the month of October. These workshops are entitled “Planning 101” and will feature hands on planning demonstrations through online planning games, building blocks and Box City. The exercises will illustrate land use and planning principles. Exhibits displaying the history of city planning and how land use planning works in Florida and in Charlotte County will be available.

All citizens of Charlotte County are encouraged to attend the workshop closest to their residence to learn more about planning and discover how they can be involved in the local planning process. The Mid-County Library will host the first workshop on Wednesday, Oct. 7 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Englewood-Charlotte Library will host their workshop on Wednesday, Oct. 14 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Port Charlotte Library hosts on Wednesday, Oct. 21 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and the Punta Gorda Library will host the last workshop on Wednesday, Oct. 28 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
