Foreclosed Homes – Before You Buy -and- Registering for Access to New Online Permitting
CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (Sept. 11, 2009) – On Wednesday, September 16th, from 5:30 pm to 7 pm, the Charlotte County Building Construction Services Department, located at 18400 Murdock Circle, Port Charlotte, is hosting as part of its Ask the Building Department Series, a program entitled Foreclosed Homes – Before You Buy. It is open and free to the public. In addition, the Building Department would like to invite all contractors that do business in Charlotte County to come and get their passwords so that they can be Registered for Access to Online Permitting. The program and registration will take place in the Building Construction Services large conference room at 18400 Murdock Circle.The Foreclosed Homes program is designed to educate buyers on the importance of doing a thorough check on properties that they intend to buy. Those interested are invited to attend this presentation to learn more about expired permits, liens and code violations that some properties might have before you buy and what you can do about them. Staff will be on hand to answer questions after the presentation.
In order to utilize the new, On Line Permitting system, a contractor must have a password. The Department will register contractors for their passwords during the program so that they will be ready to use the system. It is anticipated that the system will be up and running by mid to late September. The procedure for how the system will work will be explained that evening.
