Rain Barrel Workshop Scheduled
CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (Aug. 20, 2009) – Florida Yards and Neighborhoods will be conducting a rain barrel workshop Friday Sept. 4, 2009 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Eastport Environmental Campus at 25550 Harbor View Road, Port Charlotte. The workshop fee is $40, and includes a 55-gallon plastic barrel, necessary hardware kit, and detailed instruction manual. Additional barrels may be purchased for $30.
Space is limited and pre-registration is required. Please pre-register by calling Charlotte County Environmental and Extension Services at 941.764.4340 or by emailing Allison Turner at Allison.Turner@CharlotteFL.com.
Using rain barrels in the home landscape is an excellent way to save on your water bill, and to prevent pollution runoff. The workshop will include information on installing and using your rain barrel, connecting multiple rain barrels, keeping mosquitoes and other critters out, decorating your barrel, and other ways to conserve water inside and outside of the home.
