Charlotte County Offers "Florida Master Naturalist Class"
CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (August 19, 2009) - Charlotte County UF/IFAS Extension will be offering a six week Freshwater Wetlands, Florida Master Naturalist Program course, beginning on Saturday, October, 17th, 2009 and running every Saturday through November 21st, 2009. Classes will be held at the Charlotte County Environmental Campus, 25550 Harbor View Rd., Pt. Charlotte (west of off I-75 exit 167) from 9:00am to 5:00pm. Learn more about Florida’s natural environment through classroom and field instruction taught during the six week course. The Florida Master Naturalist Program (FMNP) is an adult environmental education extension program developed by the University of Florida-Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) and offered throughout Florida. The FMNP both informs and prepares individuals to share information about Florida’s natural world and environmental history.To register, forms are available online by visiting www.MasterNaturalist.org and clicking on the “Course Offerings” link. The course costs $225.00, which includes 40 contact hours of instruction, a comprehensive student reference workbook, and, upon completion, registration in the UF FMNP database as a Naturalist. A UF/IFAS certificate of achievement, embroidered FMNP patch, and FMNP Coastal lapel pin will be provided at completion. Two full tuition scholarships are being offered in partnership with the Charlotte Harbor National Estuary Program.
