The Youth Services Department provides materials and services for youth of all ages from infant to young adult to enrich, enlighten, and entertain.
The Charlotte County Library System realizes the importance of meeting the needs of the children and youth within the community and provides services to youth at all four of its locations.
There's no better place to learn to love books and reading than your local library. The library is a special place where you and your family can read, listen to stories and learn about computers. The library also provides magazines, games, puzzles, audio books, movies and music.
Reading Level Resources – use these tools to search for titles that match your reading level
Accelerated Reader Book Find –You can search for book titles based on authors, topics, or titles of books to practice for your school AR program.
Lexile Reader Level - A Lexile measure is a valuable piece of information about either an individual's reading ability or the difficulty of a text, like a book or magazine article. The Lexile measure is shown as a number with an "L" after it — 880L is 880 Lexile.

The Library System offers the following programs for youth:
Get Your Game On @ the Library is a video gaming night for teens. Refreshments are provided. Get Your Game On is open to ages 10-19. All participants are encouraged to register by visiting or calling the library. No Registration Required.
Baby Lap Time is a program for parents and their babies 0 to 12 months old. Together we share music, movements, games and fun designed to foster parent/child bonding and support early brain development. Weekly class limit is 15 infants. Parents or caregivers must attend and participate with their babies. No Registration Required.
Baby Steps is a program for walkers to 2 years old. Together we share music, movements, games and fun designed to foster parent/child bonding and support early brain development. Parents or caregivers must attend and participate with their walkers and toddlers. No Registration Required.
Toddler Tales is a program that supports the development of early literacy skills, self-awareness and self-esteem through the use of age appropriate developmental activities in the following areas – language development, emotional development, social development, cognitive development and motor skills. No Registration Required.
Special Programs is designed for children ages 5 – 10 years. The program is once a month on Monday’s at the Mid-County Regional Library and once a month on Saturdays at the Punta Gorda Library. Pre-registration is required; call the Mid-County library at 941.613.3170 and the Punta Gorda library at 941.833.5460 for more information.
Preschool Story Time is a weekly story time program for children ages 3 ½ to 5 years. It is designed to improve listening and group interaction skills through stories, movement activities, music, and dramatic play. No Registration Required.
Super Saturday Movie features a family friendly "new release" monthly. Movie categories include: Action & Adventure, Animation, Comedy, Super Heroes and Fantasy. No Registration Required.
