Deputy Chief of Special Operations Vern Riggall

Deputy Chief Verne Riggall has been with Charlotte County since February 28, 2001. Before that he was previously with the Sarasota County Fire Department from 1982 - 2001.

Chief Riggall started as a volunteer firefighter in 1969 and began working as a professional firefighter in Seminole County Fire Department in 1974. 

In 1993 while working for Sarasota County, Vern was promoted to Administrative Captain in charge of the Special Operations Department where he then was given the title Battalion Chief.

Vern's current responsibilities include managing Special Operations, Fire Prevention, and Emergency Vehicle Maintenance Bureaus.  In addition, Vern is the Charlotte County FIRE/EMS Safety Officer.
