Deputy Chief of Operations Max Lopez

Deputy Chief Maximino Lopez serves as the department’s operations chief. In this capacity he oversees all aspects of day-to-day fire ground and rescue operations countywide.

Chief Lopez began his service to Charlotte County on June 1, 1978 as a paramedic. At the time of his appointment the County Sheriff department operated all emergency ambulance service in Charlotte County. Chief Lopez moved to the County Emergency Medical Service when that division separated from the Sheriff Department in 1982.

While with EMS, Chief Lopez served as a shift supervisor attaining the rank of Captain. When EMS and the fire department merged into one department in 1992 Chief Lopez, after attending the fire academy, became a Battalion Chief, first of EMS units and than as a shift supervisor overseeing both fire and EMS operations.
