Residential Curbside Solid Waste Services

Refuse [Household Garbage]

  1. Frequency of collection: Twice a week
  2. Set out volume: Five [5] refuse cans, bags or bundles.
  3. Weight Limits: Each container or bag has a forty [40 lb.] pound weight limit.
  4. Length Limits: Items should not exceed six feet [6 ft.] in length.
  5. Container Size Limits: no larger than 45-gallon size
  • Please containerize, bag or bundle your refuse.
  • Placing loose materials at the curb slows collection and increases the chance of litter
  • Please bag your waste before placing in container and secure the lid.
  • Bagging your refuse first prevents wind blown litter during the collection process and helps keep animals out of your garbage.

Appliances:

Appliances: [Whitegoods are washing machines, refrigerators, stoves, water heaters, dryers and similar appliances]

  • Frequency of collection: As needed
  • Place your old appliance at the edge of the right of way, same location you use for your refuse cans.
  • Appliances are recycled and not buried in the landfill.
  • Set out limits: Quantities are only limited to that of standard residential replacement frequency.
  • The regular route driver will schedule a pick up for you do not call Waste Management.

Curbside Recycling:

  • Frequency of collection: Once a Week
  • Waste Management provides residents with two [2]-recycling bins
    Bin #1: Paper Products [newspapers, old corrugated cardboard, phone books, magazines, and mixed paper]
    Bin #2: Aluminum and Steel cans, Glass bottles [clear, green & brown], Plastic containers with recycling code 1 & 2.
  • Hazardous materials are not permitted.

Special Wastes – Recycling Program

  • Frequency of collection: Twice a Week
  • Place these items at the curb along side your refuse containers

Used Motor Oil: Place used oil in one-gallon jug with screw type lid with orange colored “used oil label” at the curb on your regular refuse collection day.

Used Oil Filters: Place used oil filter in clear plastic bag with orange colored “used oil label” attached, set at the curb on your regular refuse collection day.

Lead-Acid Batteries: Place non-leaking vehicle lead-acid battery at the curb on your regular refuse collection day.

Waste Tire Recycling Program

  • Frequency of collection: Once a Week.
  • Set out tires on your recycling collection day.
  • Waste Tires: Car and street size pick-up tires with or without rims are recycled at the curb. Limit of six [6] tires per year per residential unit.

Yard Trimmings

Yard Trimmings [Landscape Materials: Palm-fronds, branches, and trimmings]

  1. Frequency of collection: Once a week.
  2. Set out volume: Five [5] cans, paper lawn & leaf bags or bundles.
  3. Weight Limits: Each container, paper lawn bag or bundle has a forty [40 lb.] pound limit.
  4. Size Limits: Items not to exceed six feet [6 ft.] in length or ten [10”] inches in diameter.
  5. Container limits: no larger than 45-gallon size.
  • Use open top containers or paper lawn & leaf bags, or bundle with string
  • Do not place loose materials at the curb. Loose material slows collection time and increases program costs.
  • Do not use plastic bags. Your yard trimmings are made into a mulch product; plastic bags contaminate the finished mulch product.

Bulky Item Pick Up

Bulky Item Pick Up [Yard Trimmings or Household items]

  1. Frequency of collection: Two events per Year
  2. Limits: Up to ten [10] cubic yards per event.
  3. Pick up Service: Just call Waste Management (941-629-1106) and Englewood toll free (877-567-2974) to schedule a pick up.
  • This is an opportunity – twice a year - to place your yard trimmings or other bulky items out on the curb without bundling or containerizing.
  • Call Waste Management and a special boom truck will be scheduled to pick up these materials.
  • Please do not mix yard trimmings with regular refuse.
  • This service is not for disaster-related clean up events or major home renovation projects.
