Tippecanoe II Mitigation Area

Tippecanoe II Mitigation Area is a 182 acre preserve that is home to 2 family groups of the Florida scrub-jay. The mitigation area was acquired to protect the Florida scrub-jay and to offset the impacts of two County projects, including the widening of Flamingo Blvd. Tippecanoe II is made up of oak scrub, scrubby flatwoods, hydric hammock, and xeric hammock. A wide variety of wildlife can be observed in these habitats, keep a lookout for gopher tortoises, oak toads, six lined race runners, screech owls and even bald eagles.

To get there: Travel onto SR 776 toward the El Jobean area. Turn left onto Flamingo Blvd. and turn right onto Joppa Ave.
