HOT
TOPICS CIP Workshop - On March 25 the Commissioners held a workshop to review the active capital improvement projects. The 80 projects are at various stages in the construction process. The status ranged from land acquisition, design phase or bidding phase, to construction. The projects included roads, water facilities, fire stations, etc. Given the current budgetary restrictions, decisions will soon have to be made regarding which projects will move forward and which projects need to be delayed or eliminated. More meetings will be held over the coming months to refine the list and determine priorities. The list of projects can be reviewed on-line. Project list. Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) - The Charlotte County Clerk of the Circuit Court, who provides fiscal oversight of the Board of County Commissioners has completed the annual CAFR which details the County's finances. The report covers revenue and expenditures and provides comparisons with prior years' activities. The complete report is linked off of the County's homepage at www.CharlotteCountyFL.com. Murdock Village Street Closures - The Charlotte County Board of County Commissioners continues to implement the Murdock Village Community Redevelopment Area Plan. Over the years, this area has been a victim of illegal dumping of debris and trespassing. One of the short-term goals of the County is to secure its investment by limiting access to the 800 + acres of vacant land. In an effort to achieve that goal, the County is currently working to reduce the number of streets that will be open to the general public. By controlling access, the County hopes to stop trespassing and illegal dumping from occurring in the area. Signs will be posted to remind the general public that it is illegal to dump debris in the county. We will continue to work with the Sheriff’s Department to patrol the area and enforce the laws. The map showing open roads that will be maintained can be accessed on the website on the Murdock Village webpage. Public Access to the Regional Park and the Churches will be maintained through out the Redevelopment process.
