Treatment Facilities - West Port Water Reclamation Facility
WEST PORT SITE
The West Port facility encompasses approximately 97 acres of land. Unlike
the East Port Facility there is no designated conservation area, however
Florida wildlife of all kinds make the West Port site their home.
There are 29 acres permitted by the Florida Department of Environmental
Protection for spray irrigation of plant effluent.
DEEP WELL INJECTION
This is a Class 1 injection well with a depth of approximately 1650 feet
deep. The well is permitted by the Florida Department of Environmental
Protection for a total discharge capacity of 4.75 MGD (million gallons

THE WASTEWATER TREATMENT
PROCESS
The West Port WRF is a complete mix, activated sludge treatment facility
with a rating of 0.385mgd based on annual average design flow. The liquid
stream includes: preliminary treatment (screening and flow equalization
), secondary treatment (activated sludge and clarification), and effluent
disinfection (chlorine gas). The effluent is discharged to CCU's on site
effluent irrigation fields with backup disposal to one on-site deep injection
well. The solids stream treatment includes activated sludge thickening
(sludge drying beds), aerobic digestion and a sludge load out for off-site
transport and land disposal (via private contractor).
