Design Standards
The Growth Management Department, with the assistance of the CRA Advisory Committee, has produced a booklet of photos as a visual accompaniment to the Architectural Design Guidelines. The photographs in this booklet are examples of homes, businesses, and accessory structures that are aesthetically acceptable to the committee members and the community. The architectural style that is depicted in these photos is consistent with the Old Florida vernacular. These photos can be accessed through the links below.
Should anyone wish to rehabilitate, place an addition, or build an entirely new structure within the borders of the Charlotte Harbor CRA, it is recommended that they first read the Architectural Design Guidelines and meet with the two members of the Design Review Subcommittee. The county will not issue permits until the plans are reviewed and accepted by the subcommittee. In order to facilitate development review, potential developers should reference the photos as well as the design guidelines, and the list of acceptable paint colors that were adopted by the committee.
The photos are separated into 8 sections. They are:
- Residential Photos
- Commercial Photos
- Windows
- Signs
- Fences
- Shelters and Benches
- Service Areas and AC Units
- Lights
