Charlotte Harbor Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA)

CH-WelcomeSign

The Charlotte Harbor Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) was established in 1992. In 2003, the Board of County Commissioners approved a reoccurring funding source called tax increment for the area which has and will continue to provide the opportunity for Charlotte Harbor CRA to leverage local tax dollars with grant dollars to implement projects.

The Charlotte Harbor Community Redevelopment Agency is governed by land use standards found in both the Charlotte County Comprehensive Plan, Objective 2.3 of the Future Land Use Element and Section 3-9-50 of the Charlotte County Land Development Code, which includes mandatory architectural standards. These specific standards have enhanced the historic character of the area and encourage pedestrian-friendly development.

The Board of County Commissioners is the governing body of the Charlotte Harbor CRA and has appointed the Charlotte Harbor CRA Advisory Committee to review projects and make recommendations on the use of tax increment revenues. The Advisory Committee meets monthly.  Property owners in the area are invited to become more involved in the strategies to continue to improve the area.
