Residential Addition

Required Forms:

Notes: Energy Calcs are required for air conditioning, heating and insulation. An application fee will be required which will be applied toward the valuation and project specific inspection fees. Reviews will be performed by Right-Of-Way, Zoning and Building Plans.

An owner can not build a roof if over a duplex if they do not reside in the duplex.

Membrane roof systems on mobile homes will require an permit to assure inspections.

Sheds - DCA Approved over 100 sq. ft.

Required Forms, Documents, and Fee Schedule:
  • Application
  • Owner/Builder Affidavit - if by owner 
  • Subcontractor Worksheet - if subcontracting
  • Notice of Commencement - if value is $2,500 or more
  • 2 Sets of site plans identifying the location of the shed, adjacent buildings, easements, etc. with appropriate dimensioning
  • 2 Sets of plans Engineering or Specs (if aluminum)
  • 2 Copies of a Survey
  • DCA letter approving and authorizing the manufacturer of the shed to install the shed.
  • A DCA Plan Tracking Number from the shed manufacturer or from the website must be submitted.
  • 2 Copies of Signed and Sealed foundation/anchoring detail, which may be an approved County Master Plan.
Notes:
  • All Sheds shall be within proper set backs and constructed per manufacturers specifications
  • Shed needs to be STD 10.02 FBC
  • Reviews will be performed by Zoning and Building Plans Examiners.
  • In addition to the necessary forms for permitting, the approved permit package will include County stamped documents for the building and anchoring of the shed, and approved site plans with the DCA Plan Tracking Number from the information provided with the permit application. These items must be provided on the job site.

Signs

Required Forms:
Notes: An application fee will be required which will be applied toward the valuation and project specific inspection fees. A site inspection will be performed prior to permit approval. Reviews will be performed by Code Enforcement, Zoning and Building Plans Examiners.

If sign is illuminated an additional fee is required along with the Electrical subcontractors name on the worksheet.

An existing sign with a Face change out does not require a permit.

Single Family Residence

Required Forms:

Notes: Must have letter from owner if not air conditioned. If in the Englewood Fire District a copy of the fire impact fee receipt is required at the time of application. Septic permit can be applied for through Permitting. An application fee will be required which will be applied toward the valuation.

Reviews will be performed by Right-Of-Way, Zoning, Tree, Addressing and Building Plans Examiners.

If in a flood zone an Elevation Certificate is required prior to lintel inspection.  

The following must be completed before finals will be dispatched: 

  • All re-inspection fees paid 
  • Impact Fee Paid Garbage fee Paid 
  • Termite Certificate - Pre-treat and Final 
  • Health Approval (if applicable)
  • Engineering Approval (if applicable)
  • FEMA (if in a flood zone)

Inspections Required:
  • Plumbing Rough-PVC & Copper in, drain pipe test
  • Building Slab/Footings-Steel, Mesh, Visqueen in place, bug spray sticker.
  • Building Lintel-all blocks, forms and steel in place
  • Mechanical Rough-duct work in
  • Electrical Rough-boxes mounted, wire in place and cut in, service set and wired.
  • Plumbing Tub-Tub set, extend all copper, complete waste & vent pipes, and water pipes including tub valves
  • Building Rough-tie down trusses and bearing walls, fill lintel downpours, trusses engineered, plywood down.
  • Complete Insulation-insulation and baffles in place
  • Roof Deck
  • Roof Dry In (if flat deck or tile roof)
  • Building Final

Slab

Required Forms:

Notes: Do not order concrete until the slab inspection has passed. An application fee will be required which will be applied toward the valuation and project specific inspection fees. Reviews will be performed by Right-Of-Way, Zoning and Building Plans Examiners.

If slab is butting against a residence it must be sprayed for termites and a Termite Certificate is required.

  • Building Slab-required before the cement is poured with the forms & reinforcements visible, termite protection and compaction results.

If this spa or hot tub is in the lanai area, someone will have to be home so the Inspector can check wiring and over current protection.
