Electric

Residential can be issued using "On-Line Permitting"

Required Forms & Documents:

Notes: This permit is issued immediately. All re-inspection fees must be paid prior to finals. Someone will have to be home to allow the Inspector inside.

For a service change, you will have to set a time to coordinate with F.P.L for re-connect.

Inspections Required: Electrical Rough (If applicable) Conduit Inspection (If applicable) Electrical Final

Electric - Temporary Pole

Required Forms & Documents:

Notes: Temporary poles are for construction purposes only per NEC 305-3A. Temporary pole inspections are not dispatched until a permit is issued for construction of a structure. 

If an ETP is needed before a permit is issued on the building structure, an additional permit will be required. Otherwise, the ETP inspection can be made off the building structure permit number. The requirements for the ETP are the use of a 4 x 4 pressure treated post with two (2) braces. 

The service is built according to the NEC.

Electric - Temporary Power

(During construction of a new building)


Notes: Temporary Power charges are added to all single family, duplex or multi-family permits.  This is required to allow testing of GFI outlets during the final inspection process.

Fences - Commercial or Residential Corner Lots

Required Forms & Documents:

Notes:

An application fee will be required which will be applied toward the valuation. A Zoning review and fee is required for residential and commercial lots. A Fire review will also be required for commercial lots.

Easements and height requirements may dictate fence placement.


Inspections Required:
  • Zoning Final only (unless concrete is involved other than for post holes)
  • Fire Final - If Commercial

Fire Alarm

Required Forms & Documents:

Notes: A Fire Alarm Technician shall be on site to assist the Fire Marshall. A review will be performed by Fire.

This work cannot be done by an owner - must use a licensed contractor.


Inspections Required: Fire final only

Fire Sprinkler

Required Forms & Documents:

Notes: Reviewed by Fire Plans Examiner. Cannot be done by an owner - must use a licensed Fire Sprinkler contractor.

Inspections Required:
  • Underground pipe and pressure test
  • Sprinkler pipe, head location and pressure test
  • Final

Fire Wall

Required Forms & Documents:

Notes: U.L. Fire Listing of wall is required. An application fee will be required which will be applied toward the valuation. Reviews will be performed by Zoning, Fire and Building Plans Examiners.

For framing inspection: Stud wall complete with electric, plumbing or duct work installed. Could be 2 or 3 inspections on Firewall depending on the hourly rating of the wall.

  • Framing
  • Building & Fire Final - wall must be mudded and taped

Foundation Only Permit

Required Forms & Documents:
  • Application
  • Notice of Commencement - if job value is more than $2,500
  • 3 Sets of Foundation Plans  
  • Subcontractor Worksheet - if applicable
  • Special Foundation Form signed by the Building Official
  • Owner/Builder Affidavit - if owner 

Notes: A Building Plan Review will be required.

  • Building Slab
  • Plumbing Rough
  • Footer
  • Electric Underground
  • Right-Of-Way Final
  • Building Final

Fuel Tanks & Pumps

Required Forms & Documents:

Notes: An application fee will be required which will be applied toward the valuation. Reviews will be performed by Right-Of-Way, Zoning, Fire and Building Plans Examiners. In Ground tanks only require a Fire review.

Inspection is performed by the Fire Inspector. Cannot be done be owner-must use a licensed contractor.

Inspections Required:
  • Inspection of concrete slab if installed.
  • Pressure test on tanks above ground.
  • Pressure test, dead men and cables in ground
  • Back fill, sand or pea gravel
  • Product line and pressure test
  • Finals

Garage

Required Forms & Documents:
  • Application
  • Electrical Permit
  • Notice of Commencement - if job value is more than $2,500
  • 3 Sets of Site Plans (1 for Right-Of-Way) 
  • Owner/Building Affidavit - if owner 
  • Subcontractor Worksheet - if applicable
  • Sealed Surveys (less than 1 year old)
  • 2 Sets of Signed and Sealed Plans or Engineering if constructed of aluminum
  • 2 Sets of Window and Door Specifications
  • 2 Sets of Truss Layouts

Notes: An application fee will be required which will be applied toward the valuation. Reviews will be performed by Right-Of-Way, Zoning, and Building Plans Examiners. 

If the garage is attached to an existing residence, a roofing contractor must be listed on the subcontractor sheet.  The general contractor can only perform roof work if the garage is detached.
