DEFINITION
F.S. TITLE 23, MOTOR VEHICLES CHAPTER 320, SECTION 320.01:
PARK TRAILER: A transportable unit which has a body width not exceeding 14’ and which is built on a single chassis and is designed to provide seasonal or temporary living quarters when connected to utilities necessary for operation of installed fixtures and appliances. The total area of the unit in a setup mode, when measured from the exterior surface of the exterior stud walls at the level of maximum dimensions, not including any bay window, does not exceed 400 square feet when constructed to ANSI A-119.5 and 500 square feet when constructed to HUD standards. The length of a park trailer means the distance from the exterior of the front of the body (nearest to the drawbar and coupling mechanism) to the rear of the body (at the opposite end of the body),including any protrusions.
A recreational vehicle-type unit primarily designed as temporary living quarters for recreational, camping, or travel use, which either has its own motive power or is mounted on or drawn by another vehicle. Recreational vehicle-type units, when traveling on the public roadways of this state, must comply with the length and width provisions of s. 316.515, as that section may hereafter be amended. As defined below, the basic entities are:

Camping trailer
Truck camper
Motor home
Private motor coach
Van conversion
Park trailer (ANSI or Park model)
Fifth wheeler

CHAPTER 1 – FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY
Sec. 59.1 Definitions:
Recreational Vehicle means a vehicle which is:
(a) Built on a single chassis.
(b) 400 square feet or less when measured at the largest horizontal projection;
(c) Designed to be self-propelled or permanently towable by a light duty truck; and
(d) Designed primarily not for use as a permanent dwelling but as temporary living quarters for recreational, camping, travel, or seasonal use.
ANSI MODEL: Units that are 400 s.f. or less and meet ANSI A119.5 construction standards.
PARK MODEL: Units that are 400-500 s. f. and built to comply to the HUD standards/Federal Manufactured Housing & Safety Standards.
RV’s that are not compliant with a wind load standard equivalent to HUD wind zone 3 or FBC 130 mph 3-sec gust wind loads shall not be permanently installed or tied down in Charlotte County. Such RV’s shall be installed to be road ready, h capable of quick disconnection from utilities (plumbing, hvac, electrical) and foundation setup, allowing for immediate removal and relocation as necessary.
An RV is designed primarily not to be used as a permanent dwelling but as temporary living quarters for recreational, camping, travel, or seasonal use. An RV shall be moved every 180 calender days.
Different structure types of a permanent nature, as allowed by zoning, can be erected in juxtaposition to the RV so long as the construction is “fourth wall” (self supporting) engineered in compliance with the Florida Building Code and without connection to utilities such as water, sewer and electrical.
