Charlotte County Animal Control

An Open Letter To All Pet Owners In Charlotte County

Dear Pet Owner,

This is to inform you of the Charlotte County Ordinance 98-70 section 1-4-27a, which requires all pet owners to have their dog or cat licensed each year with a Charlotte County license.

There is also a State Statute that requires all veterinarians to provide to Animal Control with a rabies vaccination certificate of all dogs and cats that have been inoculated. On this certificate a county license number is to be issued. If the client wishes not to obtain a license the animal hospitals are required to indicate so on the certificate. At NO FAULT of your veterinarian this provides us with the information of all unlicensed animals.

In an effort to provide you with the necessary time to correct this oversight, we are allowing each client (30) days from the receipt of this letter to obtain the required animal tag.

There will be no need to bring your pet back to the hospital, you simply need to stop by your local veterinarian and they will issue a license to you. Once you have received your pets’ county tag simply contact this office with the information, such as tag number, last name, and pet name and we will then update your file.

You should be aware however, that in the event you fail to obtain a license for your pet, you will be subject to a fine of $65.00 for first offense.

Just a reminder  “A LOST PET CAN’T CALL HOME” Their tag is their ticket home.

If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to call me.
